Enrico Manetta is the president of Manetta Enterprises, Inc of Maspeth, New York. A fan of classic rock music, Enrico Manetta names Led Zeppelin among his favorite bands. Led Zeppelin faced controversy recently when they were sued for plagiarizing the intro to their famous song, “Stairway to Heaven.”
The bassist of the band Spirit, Mark Andes, has sued Led Zeppelin for allegedly stealing the “Stairway to Heaven” intro from their song, “Taurus.” Spirit’s guitarist, the late Randy California, was the original writer of “Taurus,” so Andes sued on his behalf in hopes that California receives a co-writing credit on the 2014 re-release of Led Zepplin’s fourth album, which includes “Stairway to Heaven.” So far, Andes’ quest has proven fruitless, as his attorneys must do further research on the composition of the two songs as well as the royalties that “Stairway to Heaven” has accrued. The judge denied Andes’ attorneys’ request to re-schedule, which will probably negatively affect his case. So far, it seems as if Led Zeppelin is going to win this case.
